Project Overview

The Chambers Green housing estate development, spanning 330 residential lots across 9 stages, encompasses substantial earthworks, complex civil infrastructure, and the construction of essential community facilities including a regional park. The development supported by 2 Develop Urban required strategic management of challenging ground conditions and implementation of extensive external works, including a regional stormwater basin, sewer pump station, and local water infrastructure network. 


Meeting both environmental and engineering challenges, the project required innovative solutions for managing a perched water table and coordinating complex infrastructure delivery. Through effective stakeholder management and technical expertise, the development has progressed significantly with Stage 7 and Stage 8 complete, and the final stage on track for completion in Q1 2025, all resulting in the establishment of a thriving new community in Chambers Flat. 

Challenges Faced

The project presented several significant technical andlogistical challenges: 


Complex Ground Conditions 

A perched water table created significant site complications, with a 1m deep sand layer sitting above impermeable clay. This geological formation required an innovative solution to deliver improved lot suitability. 
 

Infrastructure Gaps 

The site lacked essential services, necessitating: 

  • The delivering of a regional sewer pumpstation 
  • Installation of a 1.4km water main
  • Construction of trunk infrastructure to facilitate regional services
  • Complex coordination of trunk infrastructure

Regulatory Complexity 

The project required management of 11 concurrent approvals, complicated by the need to correct and re-document previous consultant work. This demanded extensive re-design and re-submission efforts.
